Chess, not checkers. Claiming he is doing it for this reason is an effort to get the DACA supporters mad at the Democrats. He's eroding their base. It's not his real reason for doing it, it's just politically beneficial to him to claim this is the reason he is doing it.

Trump knows how to play this game very well. He didn't suddenly become an idiot.

Agreed. Leaving DACA to die is the only decent aspect of this shitepile of a bill, along with military salaries.

The President would have to be planning to use the ensuing chaos to cut the many other destructive provisions.
