Disney Removes Guns from New ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Movie Posters

“Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.”

Except that now Han Solo isn’t sporting his famous blaster in newly released character shot posters. The revamped posters have removed all of the weapons from the characters, leaving them to look a little… odd.

Clearly something is missing from the designs. They look very off.

Here’s Han Solo and friends with their weapons…

And without…

According to Movie Web, the change comes both after controversy surrounding alleged plagiarism by the freelance artist and controversy about gun control in the aftermath of the Parkland, Florida school shooting.

"Alden Ehrenreich’s young Han Solo is seen in his reddish poster that shows the character in the same stance as the previous poster, but instead of aiming his iconic blaster, his right arm has been Photoshopped to be placed at his side."

"It looks a bit clumsy, and so do the rest of the posters that were doctored, especially when compared to the originals. The first Solo posters with the blasters intact made their debut before the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in the United States. But the altered ones came after. Though these are international posters, the news of the Florida shooting became a worldwide incident."

"It’s hard to tell if Disney is trying to appease both sides of the gun debate by having both versions of the now altered poster available, which should make everyone happy and not so happy at the same time. It pleases everyone and no one all at once, and is sending some mixed signals."

Disney or Lucasfilm has not confirmed why the change was made, and tying it to gun violence is pure speculation.

Meanwhile, Pirates of the Caribbean re-opened earlier this week featuring a gun-toting redhead peddling rum. The change was reportedly made to avoid association with human trafficking.

The poster with the gun removed looks totally gay.

... but the executives at Disney feel good about the ‘statement’ they made about gun violence. What a bunch of maroons!

Technically his space blaster is not a gun in the sense we refer to one. Over the top hysteria and PC to the fullest.

Look, if it prevents just one kid from shooting up one school with a space blaster then all of the ridiculous hypocritical posturing will have been worth it...

Where is the Star Trek Stun Phaser? That would solve so many problems for the police.

Seeing as it’s Disney and their disdain for families and love of perversion, I’m surprised they didn’t replace it with a vibrator.

Pathetic

At the same time, I think it would be hilarious if President Trump proposed a blanket ban on guns in movies, tv, music videos, etc and see how loud they squeal.

After all, one gutted amendment deserves another, right?

Heh

Is the movie even available on video in its original form?

The Last Jedi we saw was not the original. In the original, Chewbacca snacks on Porgs as soon as he catches one. When asked by Rey what they taste like, he replies in subtitles, "Like chicken…and bacon!"
