Per FOX NEWs. On trumps twitter
YES! I have always liked Bolton...he isn’t perfect, but then again...who is. And he is better than McMaster.
I feel much the same about the term ‘neocon’.
John Bolton has long seen Islam for what it is in the world today.
He is not a “They are the Religion of Peace” person.
Something someone said on another thread rings true. As someone who spent his entire life in construction, Trump is project oriented, which means at the close of a project, the team is released and then move on to another project. Some will not move on and will be let go.
All of these hirings and firings fits perfectly into Trump’s modus operandi. Everyone he has hired, and we questioned many of them served a specific purpose. McMaster’s role as I saw it was to profile everyone involved in the national security apparatus so the administration knew what they had to work with. That done, McMaster was released.
Some say he was the leaker. I submit that he was instructed to leak the Trump/Putin call for the purpose of transparency. My guess is Kelly told him to do it at the behest of Trump.
So, what purpose does Bolton serve? As several here pointed out, Bolton is a war mongering neocon who will get us into a war at the soonest time possible. I disagree. With a middle east still in a state of chaos, Bolton’s appointment might make the Syrians, Palis and other Muzzy nations and groups think twice about harming the US when the embassy moves to Jerusalem. It also might make China realize that we are not going to back down and let them expand their military throughout the world.
Trump is using Bolton’s reputation as a valuable tool to prevent war, not get us into one. That’s the genius of Trump.
Agh. “War Mongering Neocon”. Like you, I disagree with the characterization.
First, he doesn’t set policy. He provides information to the President.
Second, he understands and is not shy about stating aloud the true nature of Islam due to fear of violating some politically correct boundary. If stating aloud the truth makes him a “war monger”, well...so be it.
Avoiding speaking the truth does not make it any less true.
I agree with your assessment of Trump’s management style. That rings true to me. It certainly isn’t the government style, which I absolutely see as a positive thing, not a negative.
73 Easting.
Exactly. Characterizing “America First” as non-interventionalist by its very nature seems like an intellectual throwback to 1940 because it has a name similar to the “America First Committee” which WAS by its very charter and nature non-interventionalist, but today has a different meaning.
Today, “America First” means putting our interests over the interests of any other country and conducting our affairs in that fashion.
As you said, if it means it is in our best interests not to get involved militarily, then we don’t. If is is in our best interests to do so...we do.
I don’t think it is that complicated. When I see people characterize the sentiment in the 1940’s fashion, that sets off alarm bells for me.
You kids sure do love using that third-grader term ‘neocon’. I guess making up words makes you feel smarter than a second-grader.
Hehehehe...I have always enjoyed that cartoon! We could update it a little bit by putting some more trinkets in that China Shoppe labeled “Democrats” and “EU”.
Neo-conservative. Self-labeling by the neocons themselves. No different than the R side calling Dems Dims or Rats.
The juveniloids in this forum are just about 100% in the interventionist camp. And you’re the first folks to demand a kick for people who disagree with you.
3-73 Armor.
About the same time one of my buddies “Doc” Whelan was there.
Trump is still President.
So did Flynn and Colin Powell. What’s your point?
Yep. You know.
“I keep dreaming of reading that the flat tire that is Jeff Sessions has been changed for a new road ready tire...”
Dream on, sleepy head
Trump clearly has no problem firing department heads when he want to, yet Sessions remains..... Hmmmm...
Doesn’t that tell you something?
He may have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before posting that.
Even that stay only made him smarter than the dumbest liberal.
My point is that one can worry when an combat experienced person is replaced by one who may not have such experience to advise someone who definitely has not had that experience. On the other hand, Trump is a builder and may have an instinctive dislike for the wastefulness of warfare. Several have commented after my comment, but I am still not clear if Bolton has actually been at the front with blood, guts, and bullets flying. I know that after his Iraq combat experience some of my son’s gung ho attitudes shifted.
Maybe, but I question our ability to project power anymore. The state of the military as highlighted at the link is saddening, frustrating, exasperating...And Trump is letting it happen.
