Jeez, if I’d known how easy it was to make a few bucks by lying about having affairs with famous and wealthy, married men, I’d have tried my luck back when I was just a young thing.

Something tells me that, back in the old days before the internet when we were all "young things," people like this who challenged famous wealthy married men's societal status and position simply got whacked.
Now they have the safety of instant publicity.
