Everyone is so anxious to excuse the car and its occupant. The camera showed it approach and high the little old lady as she was then apparently off finishing walking her bicycle across the street. The car did NOT slow down, the occupant did not intervene. The car hit and killed the little old lady. Excuse that however you wish, but end of day, if they car had not run her down, she'd still be alive.

I realize Uber supports and the city of Tempe have a lot invested in excusing the dead body in the street, but this won't be the last time it happens. And take note that even Uber notes they problem with bicycles and bike lanes. Fatal ones, now. The fact that they admit this, then they should not be on any roads where there might be a bicycle or a bike lane.

It looks like she either came out of the movie theater or off a bus. It appears she crossed the road to get to the bike lane on the north side. In the median between the bus stop and bike lane their is a large clump of trees. This likely to be the shadows, the police officer mentioned in one of the reports. The north bound side where she got hit appears to be rather wide with several turn lanes. If she got hit in one of the left turn lanes I don’t see how it could be avoided. If she got hit in the right lane and the brakes weren’t even applied, I would like to see a further explanation.
