As usual we speculate on articles that don't have any details. Being late at night, I speculate alcohol was somehow involved. Lets say the pedestrian was drunk. If so, the current technology isn't very good.
I suspect alcohol too. I’m glad they are reviewing it.
The technology will be improved. But can you ever prevent an accident by machine or human when someone at night runs or walks out in front of you?
The machines could drive 5 miles an hour at night with infrared detectors deployed. But who wants that?
