SETI@home was a pioneer in the distributed computing that led to “install this app and mine Bitcoin”. Or even worse, the magazines saying “let us mine cryptocurrency with your browser while you read”.

I've been running SETI@home for several years. It's my screen saver and always running in the background.

Also have a few cryptocurrency wallets always running. I do notice a slight computing slow down since installing the later.
