President Donald Trump and his personal attorney are trying to get a lawsuit by adult film star Stormy Daniels transferred to federal court — and they claim she's on the hook for at least $20 million for violating a secrecy agreement signed just before the election.
An attorney for the actress accused the Trump team of "bullying tactics" for the legal maneuver, which is aimed at pushing the dispute into private arbitration.
"To put it simply, they want to hide the truth from the American people. We will oppose this effort at every turn," said Michael Avenatti, the lawyer representing Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford.
Trump attorney Michael Cohen, with the consent of the president, filed a "notice of removal" on Friday that contends Clifford's suit should be moved from California state court to federal court because the parties live in different places and the amount at stake is more than $75,000.
The new paperwork showed that Trump is being represented by Charles Harder, the high-profile attorney who won a $140 million verdict for Hulk Hogan against Gawker and who has also worked for Harvey Weinstein, Jared Kushner and a constellation of Hollywood stars. He also represented Melania Trump in her successful defamation suit against the Daily Mail newspaper.
Cohen and Harder did not respond to requests for comment from NBC News.
Clifford says in her lawsuit that she had an "intimate" relationship with Trump, who was married at the time, in 2006 and 2007. Trump denies the allegation.

“Trump” is not even suing her. Cohen, his attorney, is. Trump’s name doesn’t appear anywhere in the agreement. Neither does Clifford’s. Everything else in here is speculation by the writer.

Trump is a classic alpha-male. He's rich and powerful. And he likes women.
He attracts beautiful women like flies on flypaper.
But I'm not the least interested in his private life or his sexual proclivities.
I am extremely satisfied with what he has done in office so far and cheer him on to do more.
This is all about bringing Trump down and getting him out of office.
I think someone is behind this gal's push to talk about this and they are paying her to keep this going in the media.
But I don't think his supporters, like me, care one iota what he does or has done in his personal life.
None of his background reveals anything that is not in other politicians backgrounds.
At least he's not getting a Lewinski under the Resolute desk in the Oval Office.
I read the NBC News article and I must say I just don’t get it. What is the issue? Even if Donald diddled Stormy, so what? It may be immoral but it ain’t illegal. I must be missing something. I don’t see what the fuss is all about.
Trump is a known germaphobe. I doubt that he’d feel comfortable taking the risk of sex with a porn star. A beauty queen? Sure. Porn star? I really doubt it.

His name isn’t even in the agreement. Neither is Clifford’s. Trump isn’t even suing Daniels. Cohen is the only party to the lawsuit.
This is just nuts. So the revelation that aPresidential candidate, who had an affair with a porn star, is only worth $130,000.00? Plus the legal document negotiated for her silence was NEVER signed? As I see it her attorney left about FIVE MILLION on the table and both attorneys didn’t care too much about signatures.

They should add her lawyers as defendants for tortous interference with contract. That is always fun because the lawyers then have to get their insurance carrier’s lawyers and everyone takes a new look at the case.
