In 1940, when Glenn Miller played there, the hotel was called the Hotel Pennsylvania—it was right next to the Pennsylvania Railroad station.

By 1977, when the Young Americans for Freedom had its convention there (which I attended—and where Ronald Reagan spoke), it was called the Statler Hilton, but the phone number was the same. It remained the same years later, when the hotel became the Ramada. Now, the hotel is back to being the Pennsylvania—and the number is still PE6-5000.

Cognizant now of those bits of trivia, I’m probably gonna have to give ‘em a ring.

It’s your fault ;-)

OMG !

So I just rang it and the first thing you hear is the song's intro guys with that Pennsylvania 6-5000 shout, and then the music goes on in the background while a female robovoice says 'Welcome to the New York Pennsylvania Hotel . . .'

OUTSTANDING .. thanks a ton, Fiji  :-))
