More than six months after dismissing Richard Simmons’ defamation lawsuit against the National Enquirer and Radar Online, which ran articles alleging that Simmons had undergone sex reassignment surgery, a judge ordered the fitness guru to pay nearly $130,000 in attorneys’ fees to the media outlets and their publisher, American Media, according to court documents.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Gregory Keosian issued his ruling on Friday. The defendants had filed a motion in January seeking $220,000, which Simmons' lawyers criticized as a "billing fiesta."
Simmons sued the media outlets in May 2017 after they ran articles claiming he is transgender. A June 2016 cover of the National Enquirer, for example, read: “Richard Simmons: He’s Now a Woman.” In his lawsuit, Simmons claimed the outlets published the stories with “calculated malice.”

Yeah, some logic, right? The judge essentially ruled it was bigotry if someone objects to front page stories being run about them saying they had themselves castrated (among other things) when they didn’t and the publication knew that they didn’t...and now rules they, the victim of the intentional lies, should have to pay the publication that ran the knowingly false story.

At least as far as I know he never imposed his political views on anyone. Might be too absorbed in pushing his business image [at least I hope it’s just an image and not an obsession] to even have political views.

His flamboyancy (which always caused me to chuckle) and associated videos lead a lot of fat people to change their life styles around and lose weight.

It’s not wasted space to post a story about a judge punishing a victim because of his (the judge’s) support of “transgender rights.”
Well still, there was a point of swish beyond which even he didn’t want to go. That testosterone helps him not be as fat as he might otherwise be. And I wonder if he ever ventured that in his lawsuit. “Look, I’m physiologically male and never wanted anything else, and it makes perfect sense for my line of business.”

I don't, you obviously did not read the article. The National Enquirer claimed that he was undergoing transgender surgery, which has been proven false..........
