The shoring should not have been removed until the suspension cables were installed.

You called it. At the very least, no traffic should be allowed until after suspension supports are in place and tested. Someone should go to jail for this! Allowing traffic to sit under an incomplete span? Criminal!

I do everything I possibly can to never stop my car under a bridge, especially here in Northern California. The chances of catastrophe while I’m under a bridge are extremely small, but I really don’t like the idea of being squashed like a bug under a boot.
