Hundreds of posters with the national motto "In God We Trust" will soon be on display in some Arkansas public schools.
Despite the objections of atheist and First Amendment groups, a new state law, Act 911, requires schools to display posters with the motto, along with the U.S. and Arkansas state flags, if they are donated.
The law says the posters may be displayed in each public elementary and secondary school classroom, library or any public building in Arkansas thats maintained using state money.
State Rep. Jim Dotson (R), who sponsored the bill that became Act 911, appeared at the Bentonville School Board's February 19 meeting to present 891 framed copies of the posters that had been donated to the school district by the American History and Heritage Foundation.
...
He said posters are also being donated to other school districts in northwest Arkansas.

Objections by First Amendment groups? Do tell. Doesn’t sound like they support free speech.
I’d be asking how true it is. God isn’t any happier about lies than the most principled atheist or agnostic.
It’s a weak slogan unless it’s true.
Most who fight like Hell about this have a God nevertheless: the state and/or liberalism. The enemy of American knows without God, America is dead. I can’t see a world without God or America. It’s actually a horrific vision.
Good.
Something needs to be done.
In Arkansas, only 18.9% of the high school students go on to earn a college degree.
Perhaps these posters will increase that rate which is among the lowest in the 50 states and DC.
Well, if it's free speech, does every god get a poster?
What’s the beef? I just looked at a $20, and the back side says, “In God We Trust.”
Long past time for religious people to fight back.
should make up some posters with the 10 commandments printed on them too
Along with “everybody’s a Jew”?
How about putting the Christian bible on the bulletin board of our own hearts?
This sounds like another version of “liberal” — tell the OTHER GUY to do the grand sounding thing, but don’t risk our precious little fannies doing it ourselves!
it is a way to get the 10 commandments BACK into schools- not sure what you’re going on about? They kicked God out of schools and you are objecting to bringing Him back in again?
and just for the record- it isn’t a case of one or the other- just because posters are put yup doesn’t mean the Christian student must stop witnessing in schools- BOTH can be done- not sure why you object?
The same outfit providing the free signs that say in god we trust, provided the free 10 commandments monument, that would be installed on the grounds of the state capital.
And before the ACLU could sue, some guy crashed his car into it and destroyed the monument.
If you are interested, there are videos on Youtube.
well that’s a single monument- posters hung all over would be a little harder to destroy- But i wonder why the monument wasn’t replaced?
I’m opposed to making Him sound like the vassal of a government. That’s what I am “going on” about.
God is going to compare your heart real quick to what you hang up and show. You might want to not let your mouth get ahead of your soul.

The school can’t actually enforce several of the 10 Commandments. Does the school prominently posting rules that it can’t enforce degrade it’s efforts to enforce other rules?
