Such contests are more about storylines than winning
In reality, the race will not only not change the balance of power in Congress, it wont even determine who will get a leg up to win the seat this fall. Thats because the district will be entirely redrawn when the primaries for the seat take place two months from now and at least one candidate, Lamb, wont even live there for a possible rematch.
Tuesdays election is also taking place with the 115th Congress heaviest legislating in the rear view mirror. With midterm primaries already underway, the chances of major bills coming before the House or Senate before November grows smaller by the day. The winner of this contest will most likely be naming post offices and approving suspension bills in between trips home to campaign for re-election.
The race is also not a test for the tariff issue in the Rust Belt, since both candidates support President Donald Trumps decision to impose tariffs on foreign-made steel and aluminum. Nor is it a question of the power of the gun control issue in the wake of the Florida school shooting, because Saccone and Lamb have similar positions there, too.

Call me a contrarian, but I consider the results a rather huge GOP victory. My mojo which is usually right on the $$ told be Lamb by 10. Saccone, the most pathetic candidate on earth ran against a moderate republican.
I do think, however, the GOP has had it with being the majority party and will field a bunch of losers to throw the mid-terms. They can stop DJT in his tracks and blame the Dims.
With less than a half percent margin, there is an automatic recount.
Those 3rd party candidates screw conservative every time.
Dont blame third party candidates, blame the idiots who vote them. And the thousands that flipped from R to D since the last election. If you really cant decide which side you are on, just dont vote.
Because Republicans are stupid. They should be pushing leftwing independents in races like this.
You seem to be laboring under the mistaken impression that residency within a CD is a requirement to run for that CD. It is not.
Its generally done that way, mind you. But is not a requirement.
