Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Tuesday condemned President Trump's decision to nominate Gina Haspel to become the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), saying she was involved in "one of darkest chapters in American history."
While he expressed confidence in current CIA Director Mike Pompeo's ability to serve as secretary of State, an appointment Trump announced earlier Tuesday, McCain said in a statement that Haspel needs to explain her stance on torture.
"The torture of detainees in U.S. custody during the last decade was one of the darkest chapters in American history," McCain said. "Ms. Haspel needs to explain the nature and extent of her involvement in the CIA's interrogation program during the confirmation process."

Torture is getting your head cut off with a dull knife. Torture is being put in a cage and lowered into the river or set on fire. Waterboarding in the US everybody gets out alive.
McCain’s entire life of being a failing gubmint tit sucker has been one of America’s darkest chapters. Time to finish this book, traitor.
Didn’t know how I felt about this chick. Now I like her!
John, die already.
Traitor McCain started ISIS, is directly responsible
thus for the rape of hundreds of thousands of children
and women, and through Benghazi gave 20,000 MANPADs
to HIS terrorists.
And now McCain b&tches about the waterboarding needed
to find HIS trainees and soldiers.
“One of the darkest chapters in American history”?
Take a look in the mirror, Sen McCain.
That being said, I am sorry for what he went through, hope he recovers and just plain retires. Spend more time with your family and leave us alone! And please, stay off of Sunday talk shows. LOL!
He is talking about Haspel. Not Pompeo.
Water boarding isn’t torture.
UN previously excluded.
“Not 9/11 you POS?”
Excellent point. Worst day EVER.
And as a senior Senator why didn’t he stop it back then?
And was he as upset about this chick when obama put her in her current job?
...said one of McCain's aides while he drooled upon himself, barely able to breathe.
>> McCain is trying to screw things up again.<<
I wonder if before he croaks there’s a way to get him waterboarded?
“Somebody please give this communist loving Songbird a Pill. NOBODY was Tortured, Waterboarding is NOT Torture and All Military Recruits go through it as a matter of training.”
I am not an expert, but I imagine those in the military have to be prepared for anything they encounter, should they be captured. It just makes sense; prepares the mind to endure the worst.
I have banned my comment to save the mods the trouble.
McCain, shut up and die. Your comments do not help the American people, but are those of a bitter old man who needs to go.
Perhaps McCain is reminded of the fact that the torture he endured in the Hanoi Hilton made him talk to the enemy. Torture should depend on who is doing the torturing and who is being tortured. If the tortured is a terrorists, then there are answers that need to be given. If the torturer is a good guy trying to get answers that can keep your nation safe, then they are a determined questioner. It’s that simple. Obviously, McCain’s thinking has been poisoned by his own experience—and maybe his own guilt.
“And as a senior Senator why didnt he stop it back then?
And was he as upset about this chick when obama put her in her current job?”

Great questions, Shelterguy.
>>It was NOT torture.<<
Too bad it wasn’t.
When was the last time he made his own statement in public before the cameras?
“Torture is getting your head cut off with a dull knife. Torture is being put in a cage and lowered into the river or set on fire.”
