Decades ago, during a season of intense personal revival I heard very clearly in my soul the phrase - "Beware the professional Christian"
I have used it as a marker all the days since to take with a grain of salt many in the ministry; those high and lifted up seminary graduates, those lofty theologians and a bunch of denominational know-it-alls.
What I have found is a bunch of folks in selfish pursuit of money, an easy job, status, prestige and often the tradition of man.
I am truly blessed when I am around everyday Christians who hear from Our Lord clearly and on a regular basis.
My own testimony about Trump was in the days after the Virginia primary when I threw my vote away selecting Ted Cruz. I spent a day listening to what others were saying about Trump and at the end of the day, I had heard from the Shepherd and was on the Trump Train.
Exactly -
The Achilles heel of the right and it is on prominent display in this thread.
“This, above all, may be the fracture line within the church that Trump has most exacerbated: race. As Michael Gerson wrote in The Atlantics April cover story, Here is the uncomfortable reality: I do not believe that most evangelicals are racist. But every strong Trump supporter has decided that racism is not a moral disqualification in the president of the United States. And that is something more than a political compromise. It is a revelation of moral priorities.
The Marxist/Progressive slander of Trump supporters as “racist” infects some “Evangelicals” who have adopted Marxist/Progressives lines of discussion, including those lines of thought that sanction the Marxist/Progressive agenda of open borders and amnesty for the illegals.
The main illegals problem is NOT a Latino problem. It is a Mexican problem in the main and with the impetus from the Marxist/Progressive camps it has been conflated from its true proportion - a Mexican problem, into a Latino problem. It’s all a lie.
Trump is NOT “remaking” Evangelicalism.
What divides there are in Evangelicalism they preexisted Trump, just not, before Trump, brought into as clear lines - to the press. It is not revealing to Evangelicals, just to those that never really knew it, never knew its diversity.
I know it’s been said many, many times, but we were not electing the “Pope”.
I’m a Christian and I LOVE Trump almost as much as Jesus! (well maybe that’s a stretch).
I LOVE Trump! Is he a “sinner”? Sure, just like me.
Does he use bad language on occasion? Sure, just like me.
I have found that the “pious” “holy roller” Christians are NEITHER and are usually hypocrates.
The “pious” “holy roller” Christians are found in the bible. They are called Pharisees and Sadducees. Jesus didn’t actually like them very much.
Christianity Today is about as “Christian” as that celebrity-worshipping, New Agey, poorly written Guideposts.
I hope you’re right. Evangelicals dumped Gingrich with a vengeance. If Trump bumps up against rectitude, we’ll see how deep his support runs.
The ones who didn't vote for Trump worship Satan - because Felonia von Pantsuit would have appointed Satan's demons to the Supreme Court...
The Constitution is not the Bible, but it was composed and agreed to by Christians. Evangelicals do not accept loose interpretation of the Bible intended to subvert the Gospel, and they have every reason to reject loose interpretation of the Constitution intended to subvert their rights, especially the First Amendment.Trump promised to name SCOTUS justices who would interpret the Constitution faithfully; Hillary threatened the opposite. Trump delivered.
