Thomas Wictor-
(1) Now: the Damascus suburb of Eastern Ghouta.
A report.
(2) RT tells us that the Russians and Syrians came an agreement with jihadist rebels to let civilians leave.
(3) But.
"There are reports of militants taking hostages and opening fire on those attempting to flee."
(4) This leaves us with only two possibilities:
One, the Russians and Syrians have agreed to let the JIHADISTS leave, in exchange for the jihadists releasing their human shields.
(5) Or two, are NO JIHADISTS in Eastern Ghouta, and all of this is elaborate kabuki to allow Russia and Assad to play the heroes.
(6) I can't tell you what's really happening.
My gut tells me that in reality, there are no jihadists in Eastern Ghouta, and we're watching a melodrama with life-and-death stakes.
(7) If this is all a charade, Russia and Assad would have been FORCED into it.
All you'd need to do to control Russia and Assad is occasionally blow the hell out of their troops and weapons systems.
(8) Why the charade?
Because POSTWAR Syria is more important than the war itself.
The Americans report that refugees are coming back in massive numbers in the areas where we patrol.
(9) They're already rebuilding.
We have no evidence of a postwar insurgency.
(10) The Gulf Cooperation Council studied post-Saddam Iraq.
They saw that the mistake WE made was to become the public face of the postwar period.
(11) You won't see Saudis publicly setting up anything in Syria UNLESS they are asked.
After Saddam was hanged, his grave became a shrine.
Do you know the old Arab proverb?
(12) "I against my brother, my brother and I against our cousin, my brother and cousin and I against the world."
Toppling Saddam made him a sympathetic figure.
So the GCC is undertaking unprecedented strategic deception operations in Syria.
(13) Westerners want everything over as quickly as possible.
Here's what a Yemeni official said about the war in Yemen:
(14) "Yemeni Interior Minister Ahmed Al-Misri said on Monday that the 'delay in finalizing the war' against Houthi militias has been due to the legitimate government forces ensuring that they 'respect human rights during the ongoing battles.'"
(16) He means avoiding civilian casualties that will create another cycle of revenge.
Has it worked?
(17) Yes.
"A senior official of the Yemeni armed Houthi movement on Thursday confirmed that his group has been undergoing secret talks with the Saudi side since two months to end three years of war."
(18) A combination of force AND restraint is allowing the two sides to have direct talks.
The Houthis also see that their patrons--the Iranian mullahs--are on the way out.
(19) The Houthis are being driven back on all fronts without suffering massive casualties.
This is because the GCC wages war on MILITARY OBJECTS, not people.
It's a new form of warfare.
(20) "Experts" tell me that this new form of warfare won't work.
Really?
(21) If you're fighting, and every time you go out, all your weapons get destroyed, are you going to keep going out again, forever?
Or are you going to say, "To hell with this. We can't win."
(22) I'm very optimistic about the Middle East.
That optimism dates from August 4, 2015.
Nobody knows how these tanks got there...

Trump meets Prime Minister Varadkar of Ireland in Oval Office 3-15-18Trump's speech was a little awkward, but the Prime Minister Varadkar's speech (starts at 6:11) was quite good. Gift of gabTaoiseach's mother is Irish.
Trump and Melania Host the Shamrock Bowl with Prime Minister Varadkar From Ireland
He did not bring his husband on this trip. Not sure the WH has developed any protocol for that, as there are only four gay-married national leaders in the entire world, all from very small nations, and Varadkar's tiny nation is the most well-known. We can only imagine how the former occupants would have blown it all out of proportion. I'm sure Melania, our President and staff would have been quite cordial and not made a big deal of it, however, since POTUS worked in NYC for so many years, and has had many close friendships with gay people.
Varadkar is well-spoken and if you didn't know he was gay, you wouldn't know. Except for the hipster pegged trousers, that is. But even straight millenials wear those.

Love the menu. During the Obama adminstration, menus for the various foreign leaders often featured American versions of the foreign guests' native cuisine. This seemed to me a misstep. Why would you travel to America to eat the same taste palette as at home, especially when America has so many native foods to offer? But, of course, the O's hated America.
This menu features beef, an American favorite, with a nod to Ireland in the cheese courseboth Irish and American cheddar. I like that the chef flavored with bourbon instead of Irish whisky, and went with nouvelle cuisine vegetable "tower" and unique dessert sweets.
Personally, I do love Irish cheddar and butter on special occasions.

Grassley req. for new special counsel with grand jury powers to assist DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz *specifically* says in regard to the @GenFlynn case.
Just as I suspected. An OIG investigation for over a year, leading to a report, leading to another endless investigation - this one by another SC. Where is the end? We don't have enough evidence for 1, just 1, indictment? The OIG investigation found "wrong doing" by McCabe, and what has become of it? McCabe, the millionaire, gets to retire with his benefits.
I am really losing hope that anything will come from these investigations other than rich lawyers getting richer off our tax dollars. What makes the R's so sure this new SC won't go off the rails like Mueller & start investigating crap he isn't supposed to investigate?

Sad news for the kids. Looks like Don is a good dad.

If there’s one thing I learned about relationships, it’s that it can’t always just be about the kids, and it can’t always be about work. Think about what drew you to that person in the first place.

JEFF Session the COWARD. McCabe can keep his pension. What a moron,. All of us know "McCabe is a criminal, but we have been told to wait for the OIG report. When that comes out, heads will roll."
Well the OIG report was referenced in the recommendation ro fire McCabe, but yet NOTHING has happened. A hanging curve ball right over the plate & WIFFF.
I am beginning to believe nothing is going to happen when this OIG report is released, and certainly nothing will happen to Crooked Hillary, note alone Obama. Maybe they can find another 13 anonymous Russians..

the mailers in question thanking Conor Lamb 4 supporting the 2nd amendment were strategically sent to liberal households, mostly in Allegheny suburbs. It is a sound strategy to dampen enthusiasm and turnout. To me that sounds legit, if executed properly.

She had to manage 5 kids and he is away all the time.Oh, boo hoo. They have the means to get plenty of help. She needs to volunteer with some military families for awhile, if she wants to learn about spouses being away all the time.

Emails reveal conservative alarm over Obama holdovers in Trump administration
In coordination with Politico, House Democrats Elijah Cummings and Eliot Engel delivered an open letter to the White House and State Department, which begins:
Note that finish: " ... despite the career employees expressing willingness to support the policy priorities of the Trump Administration." The whistleblower is not named, but the remainder of the open letter focuses on one Sahar Nowrouzzadeh:
The "conservative news outlet" referred to is Conservative Review; Jordan Schachtel had published an article titled: "Iran Deal Architect Is Running Tehran Policy at the State Dept." Indeed, as Schachtel had written, Nowrouzzadeh had been "the Iran director for former President Obamas National Security Council."
