Why can’t the tanks just be on a trailer?

I think we scrapped most of our tanks, so this decision makes sense.

I remember when we had TRAILERS to carry tanks.
I guess our military scrapped them too.

M1 Abrams is supposedly manufactured in Huron Ohio, I have never seen one being shipped on a train or by truck. U may laugh, but I believe all America's Abrams are shipped to foreign lands.
Another thing, go to the entrance of any military base and u find a guard with an m16, u would think an Abrams would be posted there too as a message and added security. I am willing to bet that no tanks are on any military bases.

” though he may get no tanks for the effort.”
“Big, heavy tanks could tear up District of Columbia streets.”
More stupid fake news from the lying media.
I hope Trump will piss on this pile of journalist nonsense.

IOW, Trump wins and they specify no tanks/treaded vehicles when he probably never envisioned having something out there to tear up the infrastructure...

DC’s streets are a pothole-ridden nightmare. Tanks tear them up and guess what DC will do? Bill the federal taxpayer for repairing DC’s dang streets. God bless the tank corps, but I’m for making DC pay for its own dang road repair.

This is bull. Tank treads come in two flavors all steel, for unimproved terrain, and combined steel and rubber for hardened streets. I worked on a project involving an actual M-1a tank. I saw the crew drive it around on a asphalt parking lot in summer and it left rubber marks but did not hurt the pavement at all and the were doing 360's!
More lies lies lies....

Marching bands are the best part of any parade!
To: mdittmar
This tank is equipped with the rubber pad tread designed to not damage hardened surfaces.

Why don't they just tell the Army they are not wanted?
There are plenty of ways to include tanks without tearing up the oh so delicate streets of DC.
