Used Apple Store owner evicted from Derry shop (banned Republicans)

Business that tried to ban Republicans owed more than $15K in back rent DERRY — An owner of the Depot Square Office Building at 6 West Broadway said Bill Williams of The Used Apple Store was evicted from his unit in early February after neglecting to pay rent for seven months.

Manoj Munjal of NNM Realty Trust — an Andover-based management company that owns the building — told The Eagle-Tribune that Williams was served court paperwork that required him to moved out of the building by Feb. 14. He rented the space for five years.

Williams left in time, Munjal said, but the space remains littered with broken computer parts. For weeks, a sign in the window said The Used Apple Store would re-open after renovations, which Munjal said is not true.

"He kept his store very smelly and I complained to him quite a few times," Munjal said. "He was really late in payments and he was very rude to his customers. I was there a couple times and heard him tell people to get out or he'd call the police."

According to court documents, Williams rented the commercial space for $2,000 per month and owed $15,110.

Williams said that the eviction is "complicated," explaining that he still had a key even after the eviction notice was filed, which led him to believe he was still welcome there. He wants to retrieve the last of his belongings from the building before a new renter moves in, he said.

Another technology repair company, this one called EZ Apple Repairs, will move into the storefront soon, Munjal said.

"(The new renter) is really concerned about all of this going on," Munjal said. "He wants people to know he's not affiliated with Bill at all."

Williams made headlines last week when a post on the company's Facebook page announced that Republicans would not be served anymore. The rule was ditched a few days later, Williams said, after an uproar on social media included threats of protests and legal action from locals.

"If you affiliate with the Republican Party you are not welcome into our store," the Facebook post warned. "We will not offer you service." Store employees were said to have been capable of sensing Republicans based on their "uptight, closed energy" and "negative aura." The Facebook post described members of the political party as "almost evil, and to be honest, usually evil."

A few years ago, Williams asked customers to bring in cash, up to $1,000, and promised to double it and return it to them in 90 days with no risk — in effect, selling a security, according to the New Hampshire Bureau of Security Regulation.

In November 2016, Williams was ordered by the bureau to pay $5,000 in fines and administrative fees and an additional $713.50 to cover the cost of the bureau's investigation.

Barry Glennon, director of the New Hampshire Bureau of Securities Regulations, said last week that "(Williams) continues to have financial obligations that we continue to monitor."

Tuesday afternoon, the windows of The Used Apple Store were blocked by black tarps and a sign in the entrance way pointed out that the new business moving in was not affiliated with Williams.

I think he’s going to have major problems with Apple too considering he’s using their company logo on his store and Facebook page. Copywright infringement......

Sounds like the Williams guy is a Loyalist.

While the implied analogy is valid - refusing to serve based on politics is bad business, note that Republicans in Northern Ireland have absolutely no correlation to the Republicans in the US.

For one, all the parties are socialist. There are basically four, differing only on their degree of acceptance of British rule: Republicans = Brits Out, Nationalists = moderate republicans, Unionists = moderate loyalists, Loyalists = kill Republicans.

Loyalist groups originated in response to Republican violence, i.e., IRA derived groups.

LOL! My bad.

My first thought when I see “Derry” and “Republican” together is the IRA.

Thanks for correcting!

i’ve said all along that this guy was simply singing a sick swan song to get his free 15 minutes, knowing he was never going to go back in business anyway, and so he never had anything at risk to lose ...

Guess he was hoping that blue wave of new customers would save his failed business.

Not the best business plan, apparently.
