Already federally denied the right to purchase a pistol, now a rifle too?
“Raising the age and creating a waiting period are bad, very bad. Trade those for better background checks.”
Exactly! There is no way to put a “shine on that sneaker” as the saying goes.
What they did is unforgivable ... period!
The “camel’s nose” so to speak.
If they passes this garbage, you can be sure that the next mass shooting will push them to ban a lot more ... just wait.
A waiting period?
But I’m angry NOW!
—Homer Simpson
Federal law has already implemented a minimum age of 21 to purchase a handgun.
Same people that went along with raising the beer age to 21 and the tobacco products age to 21(in many states), etc.
We’re going to have soldiers that carry M16s who can’t buy a rifle...
‘how on earth is it legitimate to take away 2nd amendment right from 18-21 year olds?”
When I was a 12 year old kid I had a 22 and a 20 gauge shotgun. Just about every kid I knew either owned one or could freely just take dads out to go plink gophers or tin cans. Before that we trained on BB guns.
Which is why I am not very comfortable that the GOP will stand firm at the federal level
So if an 18 year old moves out from their parents and into an apartment, they won’t be able to defend themselves there legally.
He is 19.

Bum[p] stocks are out, but how about binary triggers?
We’ll have to find out if binary triggers are included. Here’s the text of the law straight from the bill:
790.222 Bump-fire stocks prohibited.A person may not import into this state or transfer, distribute, sell, keep for sale, offer for sale, possess, or give to another person a bump-fire stock. A person who violates this section commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. As used in this section, the term bump-fire stock means a conversion kit, a tool, an accessory, or a device used to alter the rate of fire of a firearm to mimic automatic weapon fire or which is used to increase the rate of fire to a faster rate than is possible for a person to fire such semiautomatic firearm unassisted by a kit, a tool, an accessory, or a device.
I could argue that a binary trigger is not a “kit, a tool, an accessory, or a device,” but is instead an integral part of the firearm as it is an essential part of the firing mechanism.
But like all things, it will depend on how prosecutors and ultimately judges rule on the matter.
>
And any lawyer could argue a belt down to the lowly rubber-band satisfies the “...a device used to alter the rate of fire of a firearm to mimic automatic weapon fire...”
All in all, the law is sh!t. As usual, does NOTHING vs. root cause, only more against the ever diminishing law-abiding populace.
It will still be legal to possess handguns and long guns at 18 in Florida.
Democrats werent as bad as people feared just decades ago. ............................ Give’em Hell Harry has to be spinning in his grave.

By what magic did said 18 yo obtain said firearm(s)? ADULTS, needing a 3rd party to purchase or govt going after the straw purchasers?
Hell, why not, we have Fedzilla, via O’Care, designating ‘children’ up to 26 years of age. Let’s make THAT the new ‘adulthood’.
The (R)N(C), useless from dog-catcher on up.
Here’s one to offer up for a vote: every bill\law on the 2nd must apply vs. abortion/voting/driving.
Either one is an ADULT, capable of making their own determinate decisions, or they are incapable. If they are immature, they are a threat/danger to themselves and others.
Where’s the provisions for the ousters of the Sheriff, deputies and skool superintendent?
Is this a fatal flaw in the language?

So now you can’t hunt til age 21? That’s going to go over like a lead balloon in N FL and the panhandle. I hope Rick Scott isn’t planning to sign that bill and run for senate.
I have a problem with these two:
Raise the minimum age. (If someone is old enough to be drafted and old enough to vote, they damn well should be old enough to own a gun.)
Ban bump stocks. (This is pandering at its highest form. This does absolutely nothing, and was likely thrown in there because it does absolutely nothing but “shows” they are doing “something”. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...)
It would appear because time passed that courts have allowed handguns age to go to 21 so I seriously doubt the courts will reject 21 for other or all guns. Maybe this is a chance to rule any age over 18 is unconstitutional. Court should say no infringe, you want change, rewrite the constitution.
