I do not.
Teachers cannot even do their actual jobs well, today.
What I am in favor of is ending all gun-free zones. Then anyone who has done the training and cares to can carry wherever.
Can’t you just hear all the hens, both female and male, around the NPR table clucking, “Oh no! Not MEN!”
Republican dads & moms have a protective nature when it comes to their kids. We’re funny that way.
NPR’s soulution is too give more power to the very agencies that have failed every mass shooting vs. giving it to the teachers that are willing to do it.
NPR needs to be defunded and forced to compete on their own merit. They are a waste of tax payers money.
Who ends up using guns to protect teachers? Republican men!
Maybe they’ll think twice now.
Back in the late 70’s my high school home room teacher was also a part-time cop.
Many of us knew about his ankle holster.
It’s not ARMING TEACHERS, it’s ending the practice of DISARMING TEACHERS at the schoolhouse doors.
The 6 dead adults at Sandy Hook would probably vote to be armed if they could have a do-over.
Laws don’t prevent criminals from committing crimes. Guns prevent criminals from committing crimes.
We are probably stuck with real men. Since the Democrat Party accumulates a disproportionate number of whimps, that leaves the Republicans, Libertarians, and Independents. Probably cooks, maintenance folks, and custodians are the best candidates. After four to six years of college too many teachers are too in touch with their feminine side.
My wife sure as ‘H’ isn’t a Republican man.
The OP poll result is based on a fallacy, namely, that if the majority of members of a group don’t support a policy, then “members of the group do not support the policy”. Suppose that only 2% of teachers actually sought to be armed, and, also, suppose that only 2% thought that teachers should be armed - and that it’s the same 2%. In that case, the same pollsters who would claim that an overwhelming majority disagree with the policy - are including a much larger population of people who don’t matter - people who wouldn’t carry anyway, even if it were allowed. In this example, only the 2% matter - and in that population, the support would be 100% (as opposed to 98% opposed).
Conservative women are for it too!
I would also like to see parents with CCW permits able to carry on school grounds and join volunteer safety patrols.
Teachers who wish to be armed with their own pistols should be allowed to carry in our schools. Stop the shooting as it starts.
The first 7 to 10 seconds are very important. You freeze the shooter in place and display superior fire power.
No. What stops a mass murderer is either he/she runs out of targets and or ammunition, or someone shows up with a firearm and puts the shooter down. The first option isn't very attractive - it means the whack job has accomplished maximum casualties. The second option is far better, and the sooner the better. Rather than wait for law enforcement to arrive and screw up the courage to intervene - something that is demonstrably a minutes long process and apparently not a sure thing... Why not arm, or at least allow to be armed the people who are already there. The sooner one of these incidents is stopped, the more lives are saved. Why would anyone be against the one provably effective measure that could save lives? They must have some overriding agenda, something more important to them than saving lives.
Damn straight!
Amazing that Republican men also want to defund NPR. Coincidence? I dont think so. I sure do want armed teachers.
