I enjoyed DARKEST HOUR, and the acting was great. DUNKIRK was also ok, but a little dry.
3 BILLBOARDS & COLOR OF WATER were very PC, although the former was a bit more nuanced. The 2nd film seems to be what’s wrong with Hollywood — stylish, but horrible liberal message.
I didn’t see the others. I would like to see PHANTOM THREAD, but the rest seem too weird or PC.
I was VERY disappointed in “Dunkirk”-————it was an okay movie but I expected much more.
.
I’m watching Darkest Hour this weekend. Haven’t see the others.
Bill Withers got it. He was working on airplanes when his recording career took off:
When I was repairing airplanes, that was a vital gig because you can lose a lot of lives if that job isnt done properly. Even when I was working on bathroom seats, at least that was constructive. I challenge anybody: I wont sing for a month and you dont go to the bathroom for a month and lets see who comes off with less misery.
LOL, well, I can see a kindred spirit in this kind of thing...I am an aviation fanatic, so I didn’t explain myself well.
I loved the quality of the flying scenes in Dunkirk, they were great, but watching them in the way they showed nearly gave me the bizarre impression I was watching an aviation version of the strange movie “Memento” about a guy who has no short term memory, and the movie begins at the end of the story, and is told backwards in repeating short intervals.
When we were watching “Dunkirk”, it seemed like they were doing that, where they would overlap the chase scene on the He-111 just enough that you felt the plane was flying 1000 feet forward and 500 feet backwards on every sequence they showed when they skipped back to it!
At one point someone blurted out something like “I don’t think he is actually going to catch up with the plane before the movie ends!”
I tried to watch “Raging Bull” two or three times on TV but never in the theatre. Maybe it is better on the big screen but on TV I found it like watching grass grow while listening to chalk screech on a chalkboard and having a bad itch all at the same time. I could never figure out why some said it was so great. It was torture to me. The only thing I can ever remember about it is DeNiro sitting at a table mumbling. Surely I must have missed something, it could not possibly be as bad as it seemed to me.
They can’t find any young WHITE folks to kidnap?
Funny post.
You must despise me.
If I gave you any thought I probably would.
