I salute Vonn's accomplishments (including struggles against terrible injuries), but the greatest female skier of all time was Rosi Mittermaier.

She was a chain smoker, and it was a hoot watching her puff away on the chair lift before going on to win her events. She also dropped out of competition to have children, came back, and became a champion again. Amazing.
