CBS News confirmed this image of Scot Peterson (from 2015).
Peterson resigned today after being suspended without pay. He was an armed sheriff's deputy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School who Sheriff Israel says stayed outside and never went in to confront the shooter.

If you go and read the local newspaper...this guy (mid-50’s) was strictly a ‘school-resource-officer’ for the last couple of years. I think his primary duty was just talking to kids. They say his annual salary was $75,000 a year, but got up around $100k with over-time figured in.
If I lived in the county and had kids in the school system, I think I’d have to ask now....are they safe? The fake school-resource-officer routine won’t work any more...now that we know they won’t react or protect the kids.
And the question I have...in this guy’s case, I would imagine upon hitting 60...he will get something from the state in terms of a pension. Pretty lousy deal knowing how he milked the system for thirty-odd years....being a fake but real cop.

According to liberals, only these guys should have guns.
Just an opinion, but police departments around the country have a LOT of people like that. That being said, GOD BLESS the ones who do the job every day, faithfully, honestly, and with courage.
No one respects the cops more than me, but its not like they show on TV, is it?
The fact that he was the only one who could have had a chance to help those students, and that he was armed, nullifies the argument of the liberals argument that only the police and military should have guns.
I can’t watch any of the police shows on TV. They’re preposterous.
Obviously we need deputy control.
The question is: was it an assault deputy? These things matter y'know...

Sheriff Dan Israel needs something, anything, to take attention away from the horrible policies of the school system and the Sheriff’s department that enabled Cruz to be ignored until this event. This deputy’s actions are a godsend for the sheriff. Don’t be distracted, we need to keep the heat on the policies. In particular, see the MOU in the tweet stream at the link.

Is he a person of “color” , (other than yellow belly ) ? Not that it really matters, but, if he is, he’ll use that as a crutch. SOB should commit seppaku.
seems like another reason there should be calls for the sheriff to resign.
Why are no protests going on in front of Cruz’s jail. He’s getting a total pass on his responsibility.
And the entire school board. And all of this leads directly to Holder and Obama as well, they helped drive this policy with DoEd/DoJ (carrot/stick) actions.
