Very first clause...
WHEREAS, the parties acknowledge that law enforcement plays an essential role in maintaining safety in the community. However, the use of arrests and referrals to the criminal justice system may decrease a student's chance of graduation, entering higher education, joining the military, and getting ajob. 1
It's more important that the student graduate, than to protect the school and society at large!
Fear of belt.
The students knew, the school administrators knew, the local law enforcement knew, the FBI knew.
But it’s guns, the NRA and Trump’s fault.
That’s what it’s boiling down to.
There’s enough meat on this story’s bone to chew on and demand “action”.
Education bureaucrats love to fall back on “mandates” and federal and state law as excuses for their own incompetence. Federal law does require that handicapped children receive a free appropriate public education. Had Cruz been diagnosed as “handicapped”? He was drugged up (?) so presumably so. But this does not mean that the school district was required to mainstream him at the regular high school. Also, he was 19. Federal law (I believe) allows each state to set its own upper age limit for meeting this requirement. So if Florida has picked some age above 18, that’s on them. The answer to the article’s central question is obviously ‘yes!’ the school district failed to keep this student away from the rest of the students.
Also, in this country, we put armed guards around the places we really care about protecting (banks, Congress, the White House, courthouses....). So why not schools? Probably for the same reason we put schoolchildren in buses without seat belts and with sketchy drivers. It is a child-killing, material world.
“Could school system have done more?”
You can bet they will in the future.
Ya gotta ask??
A few years ago under obammy, his dept of edumacation ordered that schools NOT expel students for misbehavior as a result of too many negros percentage wise getting the boot for disruptions.
Increase the age to buy a weapon to 21 ?
Why not increase it and the age to vote to 25 ?
/s to those those from Rio Limboland....
But signs like this should be seen at those so called protests which are nothing more than democrat aka pervert rallys.
The talk shows and the media are busy blaming guns and politicking the incident shifting the blame when they should be furthering the need for student security.
Particularly since there have been examples occurring of such episodes worldwide the sources of which the media refuses to identify (MUZZIES) let alone acknowledge. Because it doesnt fit their political NRA anti gun agenda .
n Parklands case, their security system should be brought to public scrutiny . Particularly of the policies employed. For starters this school has a so called gun free zone. It does have a parking lot officer who may be armed assigned to patrol the multi acre site in a golf cart , but bans guns from the rest of its internal security .
Because of these Ding Bat liberal policies it brings up another question. Just how safe and secure are those kids ? Theres a lot of krap that happens; Assaults, fights, thefts, books and items stolen, teachers accosted, kids intimidated....
Examine records reporting how student vs student, and student vs teacher altercations, vandalism, and thefts, which are bound to occur were being dealt with.
Because in an educational unit this size its pretty clear their security system failed . In a secure system Cruz would have never gotten inside.
Not in let it all hang out environment. Some liberal group would like a law suit demanding the school ignore his actions.
So to the media-pawns, including the media’s under-age pawns, none of this matters, it’s still not Cruz’ fault; it’s just the fault of the gun.
We need to bring back “reform school”.
The school and discipline records of this miscreant need to be preserved. I have a feeling that they’ve suddenly disappeared in the likelihood of pending litigation.
When the attendance dollars are more important than the safety of students, or God forbid, do something that might even have turned this individuals life around, okay that’s bullshit but they could have saved lives and heartbreak for many people by doing their damn job.
