If you lived under a repressive totalitarian regime, would you defend the lives and safety of your family “in violation of the law”...

There's a lot of things I might do differently in some alternate reality version of America.

Based on the real world where people have actually been in the position to have to decide how to live in a REAL totalitarian system (as opposed to one defined as not letting people buy bump stocks), the vast majority decide they'll be able to help their families better by complying with the laws they're living under, no matter how unfair they may feel they are.

There will always be some exceptions, and under a true totalitarian state, those people will just be summarily shot.

As for me, I'm not one to take a stand that they'll only take my bump stock from my cold dead fingers.

In the America we actually live in, I think I can best provide for the health and safety of my family by teaching them that it's best to leave the battles to the arena where the laws are passed that we will live under. I'll teach them that getting into a gunfight with an opponent with unlimited weapons to bear against them is insane, particularly if they are fighting just based on their disagreement with laws legitimately passed under our representative government under the US Constitution.

There used to be a word for people who believed as you do. If I recall correctly, they were called “Subjects”.

You may parse words and dance around the subject as much as you like, but the fact remains that my engagement with you on this topic hasn’t been “bump stock” related at all, nor have your responses had anything to do with the words I actually posted...

You seem to be enjoying the sophistry inherent in pretending that “the real world” is anything like where you live.

The point is, that when any judge, or county sheriff may determine that you will be disarmed, without a finding at trial (where you are involved in the process of defending your rights); you are in fact ALREADY under a oppressive and totalitarian regime, you’re just too deluded to see it.

Your frequent mention of “the laws that we live under” seems to carve out a vast and expansive exception for those who rule over you when in fact their authority is limited by law as well... A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed...

As is so often repeated, Justice Scalia opined that the 2nd amendment is not absolute, and I somewhat agree with that, but only within the framework of the other constitutional restrictions: Particularly those of the 4th amendment against unreasonable seizures.

We the people limit the actions of the government within the framework of the Constitution, from which the government’s only lawful powers emanate. Any government actions outside that framework and the specific powers delegated to it by the people are inherently illegal, because they are taken without authority.

Your chickens#it, phony hypothetical doesn’t find me adjudicated mentally unfit to possess arms, nor convicted of a disqualifying felony, nor subject to seizure upon a duly sworn warrant... It’s just childish internet trolling at it’s most transparent.

If any government agency proposes to deprive me of my God given rights without due process, they will be met with force appropriate to the situation. You may know that, and they may know that as well.

I served this country in defense of those freedoms you would toss aside for convenience sake, and as a free man I am very much aware of those principles for which I would fight, and if necessary, die to insure that they are not lost to humanity forever.

If that statement defines me as a ‘crackpot” or detached from your reality, then “go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
