Maybe, maybe not. The numbers are fuzzy. Notice that that 3077 people were killed by "Firearms, type not stated". Some of those were probably rifle kills. If the proportion of rifle to non-rifle murders using firearms is the same that would mean that a total of about 526 people were actually killed by rifles.

It's difficult to tell because we don't really know why the type was not stated. If it was just because the weapon was not recovered then the number of rifle kills may be less since a fleeing shooter is more likely to drop a rifle than a small, concealable handgun. On the other hand, if the data takes into account cases where no weapon was recovered and no projectile was recovered from the body then the proportion of rifle kills could be higher since rifle projectiles are more likely to over penetrate a body and be lost. Then there is the .22 problem - rifle or pistol...

And what are "Other guns" that killed 186 people? Flintlocks? M777 howitzers?
