University of Miami basketball coach Jim Larranaga took the opportunity after Saturday's 62-55 loss to Syracuse to let the world know his views on gun control in the wake of the Stoneman Douglas High massacre.
"I think we have to do something about our gun laws," Larranaga said. "We're not the Wild, Wild West where everybody should carry a gun. There needs to be accountability and responsibility for people in charge of selling guns and buying guns."

I call it the liberal ratchet effect. Once they gain ground, they never relinquish it.
A high school classmate is now part of the pro gays in scouts movement, and I look at his Facebook from time to time.
When the scouts allowed gay boys but not gay leaders, I went to his FB to see his reaction. I expected him to be happy...nope. Almost immediately he was calling the scouts every name in the book, because they only gave a little ground.
Half a year later, the scouts allowed gay leaders, with the caveat that sponsoring churches could still ban them for religious reasons. Once again, my classmate was on FB calling the scouts evil, and wanting more.
Once a liberal gets a concession, it becomes his new baseline, and he’ll fight tooth and nail to move the ratchet again in his favor...but going backwards is not even possible.
Ah yes, an expert speaks. This is just what I needed to change my mind and support gun control. Right...
Counting the number of times the police were called to his home, there were 45 chances to prevent this.
