This is a terribly defeatist attitude, IMHO. If you think and act as though teenagers are lost, then I assure you they will be. And so will the nation.

Emphasize “nearly” impossible. I got that same brainwashing in school over 3 decades ago, but I broke out of it by 12 (and I credit God Almighty for that).
