These are young kids. I can remember how I thought at that age. First, I reacted. Emotionally. I rebelled. I was full of angst. I knew better than grown-ups. So, I feel for them.
The difference is that I HAD grown-ups in my life. They were everywhere. They explained a bigger picture than I saw. They explained right and wrong, good and bad. I had the advantage of exposure to views not centered on ME and what I demanded.
I would have demanded to be interviewed on tv - my family would have put their collective foot down with a resounding NO.
Yep, I was wondering where the parents were. I wouldn't allow WBill Jr. to be taken advantage of like this.
And, had *I* suggested to my father that *I* had other things far more important than going to school...he'd not have put his foot down. He'd have put it up my backside, so as to provide the proper encouragement.

“Hey, Mom and Dad! I just learned I get to choose my sex!”
“That’s great, Honey. Which one would you like? We have 37 to choose from.”
“I’m not sure. But I demand President Trump call me tomorrow, because I’m important!”
“That’s terrific, Honey. We’ll try and get the phone number for you.”
