If he is outpatient you can refuse treatment if he’s 15. If he’s brought in as a medical emergency Psychiatric Services takes over abd the state assigns him to a local Long-Term Care Mental Facility.

He can refuse treatment if he’s 15 years or older. At least that’s the way it is in Virginia if it’s deemed a non medical emergency or law enforcement emergency. Which means he’s a physical danger to himself or others around him. Apparently he was never committed as a medical emergency.

Again, I have an Autism Spectrum Disorder son and we’ve been through this once or twice in the last 2 years. My son was being physically abused by one of his friends and he had a nervous breakdown and one or two relapses.

Too bad. nicest kid in the world. : (
