Emma Gonzalez, a senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, addressed a gun control rally on Saturday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, days after a gunman entered her school in nearby Parkland and killed 17 people.
Below is a full transcript of her speech:
We haven't already had a moment of silence in the House of Representatives, so I would like to have another one. Thank you.
Every single person up here today, all these people should be home grieving. But instead we are up here standing together because if all our government and President can do is send thoughts and prayers, then it's time for victims to be the change that we need to see. Since the time of the Founding Fathers and since they added the Second Amendment to the Constitution, our guns have developed at a rate that leaves me dizzy. The guns have changed but our laws have not.

“Our guns have developed..!!!”
We have OVER-developed GUNZ...!!!!
Actually our laws have changed. Like the gun free schools law for example.
Maybe they just need bigger gun free zone signs.
Here’s where we can deftly turn around on the soi-disant liberals and ask them where their bleeding hearts were when this Nick was as visibly cuckoo as a Swiss clock shop? Where was their care? All they cared was don’t let him get a gun? Sounds damned selfish of them!
....another CNN mic shoved into the face of a student or parent to get their (CNNs)required sound bit
Something is VERY wrong about this shaved-head leftist freak. Who are her parents? Democrat official? Anti-gun, abortion, or immigration activist? All the signs at the “rally” today were coordinated. Who paid for it?
Now you know why children aren’t allowed to vote.
I’m sorry, you aren’t going to attack my civil rights because the FIB refused to do their job, and because your school refuses to provide security.
In fact, Emma, fukc you.
>>Since the time of the Founding Fathers and since they added the Second Amendment to the Constitution, our guns have developed at a rate that leaves me dizzy. The guns have changed but our laws have not.
The AR-15 is more than 50 years old. Probably older than her parents.
The iPhone is 10 years old and it doesn’t make her dizzy. The consumer version of the Web is half the age of the AR-15 and it doesn’t make her dizzy. Yet, these things affect the First Amendment in ways that cause her to demand laws that change our rights to counter the new technology.
Stupid girl.
Not that adults are so marvelous.
Emma is the result of living in the leftist liberal fen that is Broward County, FLA. She is pitifully programmed to spew this fen-fluid.
I call BS on this student’s BS.
Interesting is that in my youth all the teens had rifles and/or shotguns. But killings and school massacres were unheard of. Weapons were kept in our cars and pickups in the parking lot and everyone knew it. This was probably not true in the urban areas, but in the rest of the country we had plenty of guns and no violence. So, what has changed.
Our society has changed and taken a leftward turn and people’s reason for being has turned upside down, their minds are screwed up.
Right on!
Liberals have quit being liberal!
That’s the problem in a coconut shell.
Bingo!!!!!! Best post of the day.
This young lady may be very sincere and compassionate. What she lacks is access to anyone able to help her develop her logical facilities. That is what school is supposed to do. Give kids the raw material, ie facts, the history to understand perspective and the information about scientific method and research to allow them to dig into a subject they are passionate about and become informed. School has failed this student and many others.
Where are most mass shootings, gun free zones. Individual shootings are most prevalent in gun free communities like Chicago. What has been the effect on violent crime in communities with open carry? They have fallen dramatically. Would the gun laws you are proposing have stopped any of these mass shootings? No.
So what should we do to keep students safe. Make them open to carry permit holders and have at least one person armed to protect the students. Make their presence obvious and post signs. I think new school buildings should be situated adjacent to police stations. That would be the best deterrent.
OUTTA HERE!!
I will donate ever-increasing amounts of money to pro-2nd Amendment lobbying orgs as long as I keep hearing calls for gun control.
There is no greater validation of the 2nd Amendment than calls for gun bans.
