The FBI revealed Friday it got a tip last month that Nikolas Cruz, the 19-year-old accused of killing 17 people on Valentine's Day, had a gun, wanted to kill people and there was the potential of him conducting a school shooting.
The agency in a statement admitted receiving a call on Jan. 5, 2018 from a person close to Cruz who contacted the FBI through its Public Access Line tipline to express concerns about Cruz's erratic behavior and disturbing social media posts
"Under established protocols, the information provided by the caller should have been assessed as a potential threat to life," the statement said. "We have determined that these protocols were not followed for the information received by the PAL on January 5."
In concluded that the caller's information was not forwarded to the Miami FBI field office and "no further investigation was conducted at the time." FBI Director Christopher Wray said the Bureau would review what had happened.
We are still investigating the facts. I am committed to getting to the bottom of what happened in this particular matter, as well as reviewing our processes for responding to information that we receive from the public," Wray said in the statement. "Its up to all Americans to be vigilant, and when members of the public contact us with concerns, we must act properly and quickly."
He continued: "We have spoken with victims and families, and deeply regret the additional pain this causes all those affected by this horrific tragedy. All of the men and women of the FBI are dedicated to keeping the American people safe, and are relentlessly committed to improving all that we do and how we do it........
In their report, deputies detailed how the teen had been harming himself and had talked about buying a gun.

Hmmmmm - a few days ago they were claiming they didn’t have enough info - now that it made them look really stupid and inept, they fess up that they have lazy folks (who probably joke about not investigating the “next mass shooter” while having cocktails for lunch) who are not interested in doing their jobs...
Will worthless Congress or the sleeping AG do anything as a "check" to this agency that has lost its way as a legitimate Federal Law Enforcement Agency? I am confounded at the way our President has handled the FBI overall. A great portion of the very top need to resign or be fired. I think it needs to be dismantled completely.
If Obama hadn’t corrupted the FBI and if the FBI wasn’t involved in a coup against the President, maybe they would have followed their protocols and saved these lives.
Because they’re so far UP Trump’s ass with these fake investigations, there are no real cops and special agents out there anymore...
My neighbor, head of the homeowner’s association had intiated and lost two lawsuits against me. It bankrupted the HOA. He was crazy, and even the deputies described him as such. I told a deputy that the neighbor had purchased a gun and was telling people he felt threatened by me and implying he would shoot first. The deputy said he was aware and had been told similar by my neighbor. I suggested he arrest the man. The deputy’s response was, “We will, once he’s killed you. We don’t take action before the fact.” Another deputy told me, “Your realize your neighbor is crazy don’t you? You have to move or he’ll kill you.”
I think this event encapsulates law enforcement philosophy at all levels. It reacts. It is not proactive. And, if it were proactive, how would it get convictions for crimes that had been threatened but not committed?
The answer is to eliminate gun free zones and arm teachers.
Hearing voices can be a good thing if they are instructing you to ‘finish your homework,’ ‘help mom carry the groceries,’ or ‘help find the neighbor’s cat.’
It’s hard to believe he was hearing voices with all the elaborate pre-meditation and his clever escape for the first hour after the rampage.
Do all psychopaths hear voices?

THAT would be psychopathic.
Alleged shooter? But damn, they already convicted the “AR15”....
Funny how the word “alleged” and “supposed” are very selectively used by media.
Too bad the FBI under Comey was using massive resources to “get Trump”, instead of attending to their designated duties. Those seventeen innocent lives are at Comey’s feet. I don’t know how that man can live with himself!
So true and so sad!
Garrison sums it up quite well with that image.
Btw, this one has no black borders...
The only 2 that took action were the first family who said he could not stay with his fire- arm. (But, he left and found another home). But, she noticed an issue and took personal action. Also, the school who expelled him.
Not sure about that. I called once in my life and a local field office agent called me back. He was more interested in talking about my driver’s license photo and where I lived. Freaked me out. I’ll never call that agency again.
Reports say it was the Louisiana office who never turned the last, or one of the last call warnings in.
Yes, but this article states that on Jan 5th a report was made by someone he knew. That wasnt the Louisiana Office (which is where the bondman had contact with). So it appears there were 2 reports.
