A senior official confirmed to CBS4’s Jim DeFede that the shooter used a rifle and they are now being told that as many as 20 people have been shot.
Officers could be seen handling someone in handcuffs at a community at 11735 NW 47th Drive, near the school just before 4 p.m.
A source briefed on the events said the shooter “is possibly a former student.”
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies said there are at least 14 victims after a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and the suspect has been taken into custody.
