I wonder how well the school is doing. If the school is starting to slip in ratings (or is already down near the bottom of the scores for the district) the principal is probably on the bubble. He may already have had to go before the Superintendent to explain the school’s performance, and may be seeing the writing on the wall for his job. He’s in his 50s, so odds of him being able to land another administrative job if he’s dumped from this one are probably slim, despite all the age discrimination regs.
So this is his way of trying to protect himself. By “coming out” he now adds a layer of victimhood, and if it looks like formal dismissal proceedings are in the offing, he can now claim that they’re really dumping him because of his newfound orientation rather than any performance issues, and that performance is just the excuse.
This is probably why his wife is staying with him. She knows it’s all a scam to protect him until he can retire.
Or it’s a plan to take it to the courts like the gay wedding cake thing.
From what I hear some of the parents were unhappy with him last year. His contract is up at the end of spring. Coincidence?
