I’m glad I read that article because before I was completely unenlightened about the wonders of TV. I had NO IDEA the idiot box could deliver such benefits to all Americans. Based on this, Congress should pass a law requiring every American to watch 20 hours per week of PBS.
There was a time in the early 1970s when NPR started...that I probably did listen to ten hours a week of their radio-act (mostly all non-news and non-political). But by the late 1990s...all the jazz, opera and bluegrass music had disappeared and almost no literature.
PBS? In ten years, I’ve probably watched six total hours of it. Most Americans...I would guess three-quarters...watch less than ten hours a year. I don’t see where the value is.
Maybe if they moved their operation out of Arlington, and to some low-cost area....they could survive and live on easily.
