...the Syrians fired between 15 and 20 antiaircraft missiles... That's a lot of missiles. I wonder how many distinct targets they were shooting at. I'm not sure what the current tactics are to evade these systems with something like an F-15 or F-16, but if they volley-fired or streamed multiple missiles at only a couple of targets... Well, you eventually run out of energy - altitude and airspeed - with which to maneuver and cause an overshoot.

Getting Iran out of Syria is going to be a major effort. It should be approached strategically, to achieve that objective. There will have to be a war.
Time is on the side of the Iranians, as they stockpile missiles, build production facilities and fortify positions.
