Funny you should ask that. I suspect that North Korea is running factories producing drugs in industrial quantities. There is plenty of reason to suspect they have been doing this for a long time. They then ship it to intermediate countries and then on to Mexico. It is much easier to get into a Mexican port than an American one. Then it gets smuggled across the American border. Thirty three pounds is small enough that a man could backpack it forty miles with no problem.
Incidentally, I interviewed a smuggler once. He brought artifacts from Belize to sell to collectors in the US. He said that there were billboards at the air port promising to smuggle your object into the US. He used their services and got his large, heavy grave goods delivered to his door by UPS. He asked how they did it and they would forge markings on goods to certify them as reproductions and place them in the back of forty foot containers that get x-rayed. Millions of these containers come into the United States every year and checking them all, or even a large sample, would be impossible. The risk is very low. Thirty, or a hundred, or even a thousand pounds buried in with something else would be, for all practical purposes, impossible to detect.
My fear is that one day somebody will smuggle in biological or nuclear weapons. Customs tries really hard to prevent this, but they are few compared with the quantity of stuff walking in illegally and being shipped legally.
When Customs does make a huge bust, most likely it was from a tip given them by the smuggler’s competition.
China is the worlds largest producer of fentanyl and the base ingredients for fentanyl as well as most pharma today
Then US and Swiss and German etc manufacture more controllled name brand or legit generics in their labs like Merck or Lilly or Bayer or Sandoz etc
He organized drug gangs in Mexico use cheap generic fentanyl shipped from china to adulterated their heroin
It makes it stronger and it’s cheaper than the heroin itself due to the fact that volume wise fentanyl which is a synthetic narcotic itself is measured in micrograms rather than milligrams like most opiates
I recently had fentanyl in the hospital at Christmas and while it sure cuts pain it lacks the “high” that morphine or dilaudid which are less synthetic and more pure opiod provide
Anyone who’s had morphine knows it’s rather dreamy to those unaccustomed
Fentanyl is just pain relief and sleepy to me...no buzz
As fate would have it despite warning after waning someone very close to my grown kids overdosed on fentanyl laced heroin in the metro Nashville area last Friday night and died.
I was calllsd to the home to help immediately afterwards.
It was very sad for the parents.
The boy who had been in trouble with narcotics for years was warned about fentanyl....
One telltale is if you heat your heroin And it turns pink it’s likely cut with fentanyl
According to witnesses, his did exactly that but he injected it anyhow and he died vomiting foam 10 minutes later with no narcon around

Anyhow.....my advice to junkies who can’t stop is don’t do white heroin unless you have watched folks use from that same bag and be ok
Or just use brown or muddy Mexican tar heroin...it’s cheap and unadulterated with fentanyl

I cannot emphasize enough how dangerous it is....the preliminary toxicology report indicated multiple levels of amount needed for fatal overdose and that narcon would not have helped
I know Freepers in their bunarynbut well meaning logic don’t want to hear it but young people addicted to pain meds have gone to heroin because pills are too high and had to get....heroin is cheap
Isn’t that strange....our open borders have made heroin cheaper than lortabs or Demerol
So I’m told even a serious addict can get super high on 10-20 bucks of heroin today
That’s only two ten milligram lortabs....nothing to a junkie..he needs eight pills minimum

Benzodiazepine family like xanax....not prescribed easily
Narcotics....in legal form they require monthly visits and insurance and pill counts and urine tests etc...it’s rigid
Illegal narcotics like heroin mostly Mexican owned versus Burma or mafia or triads or Corsica in the 70s
Marijuana....not the same thing as the others really .a high into itself
Alcohol....the clumsy and accepted old stand by
Cocaine and meth...more meth and less coke ..it’s upside down
