He needs it. He’s got an incredibly complex job.
That’s not what I meant. Many trained exorcist just start out with a simple blessing and that is enough. You as a priest do not have to be an exorcist to do this.My priest was but any priest will do.
Our priest was an exorcist by accident and was not formal by the diocese. He had 2 cases. One was he drove a man to Mass because the wife said he was afraid of church. When they got outside of the church the man punched him in the mouth.Another when a man was dying and refused to see a priest. He dressed in regular closes and walked into his bedroom where he was dying. The guy started to scream and Father blessed him with Holy Water. He settled down and Father heard his last confession.Just to califly.
Clothes.
actually, it is an old Catholic custom. My German Grand mother had her house blessed after nighttime noises and doors/windows opening and shutting themself kept her awake.
And in Oklahoma, our Osage parishoners frequently asked their new homes to be blessed.
My sister in law was Parish Coordinator for one of our oldest Catholic Churches. The main priest would go out and bless houses, etc. Were not Catholic but right after we moved in this house the parish began to have their yearly parish parties here because we have a huge pool and yard. The first one they had here the main priest blessed our house. My sis in law had a humongous deck built onto her house and had a blessing party where the main priest blessed it.
So yeah, it happens.
Fine, well non Catholics have extremely limited spiritual authority. Next time you have a problem with demonic possession, try calling a Presbyterian.
Yep, them demons sure love them some Latin.
So how does that work?
How nice for him.
Whether the exorcism of the WH is true, I have no idea.
Your friend's pastor wasn't part of the team? He must have been disappointed.
Trump surprises me more every day, in a good way.
The fact that people believe crap like this and lay it at the feet of Mrs. Trump doesn't surprise me at all. I just don't expect it from people claiming to be Trump supporters.
“Having a home blessed is a Catholic thing? News to me...and I’ve been a Catholic for 75 years.”
Maybe it has to do with what region you are from. My wife is a Catholic from Mexico, and she had our home blessed as soon as we moved into it.
Interesting post and gets back at my idea that perhaps these customs - unheard of by some Catholics here - are very old and very ethnic. They brought Catholic customs from their old countries. Anyone who has been to Italy or Sicily soon gets a sense of this ancient religion! Sadly, it is all being lost or considered outdated by our Protestant-style American Catholic Church. A religion without mystery and taboo is no religion to me!
Considering you’re a Never Trumper who is obviously ignorant about Catholic customs (which didn’t stop you from chiming in about them) I wouldn’t be so quick to criticize a perfectly nice post from SecAmndmt.
LOL! Lifelong Catholic, twelve years of parochial schooling, and I'm the one ignorant about Catholic customs? Who's the one who is convinced Mrs. Trump did this side show act?
The vast majority of Catholic school graduates know nothing of Catholic traditions.
Try to tell that to the folks who were pretty influential on this forum between 01-08. So the consensus was they were pretty much foot of the cross folks.
...and the one just off the oval office....again.....(just be be safe)
Knowing the previous occupants of the White House, I have no reason to doubt this.
Why are you so interested in the faith of the President, or the first lady, Ms.”kinda Christian”? After 28 years of humanist-socialist administrations, which in hindsight, and in total, did just about zero in the way of conservative governance, one would think you would be happy with any actions which made a positive change in the WH. The President is up against tremendous entrenched opposition in DC and elsewhere. He needs God’s intervention in order to get anything that he campaigned on accomplished. What is your problem?
I'm more interested in defending Mrs. Trump from these kind of idiotic claims. You may think she's some kind of wack-job but I don't.
