White House Staff Secretary Rob Porter has resigned amid allegations that he abused two of his ex-wives. The Daily Mail reported on domestic abuse allegations on Wednesday from two of Porters ex-wives, Colbie Holderness and Jennifer Willoughby, who shared stories and photo evidence of repeated physical abuse.
According to Axios, Porter had been urged by some White House staff including Gen. John Kelly to stay and fight for his position.
Porter, the Daily Mail previously reported, is currently in a relationship with White House Communications Director Hope Hicks and was a close ally of Donald Trumps son-in-law Jared Kushner.

That would be my guess. But Trump isnt a politician. CEOs usually dont care about peoples personal lives. They want results.
Given Kushner's lackadaisical attitude towards his own security forms, it would not surprise me one bit if he didn't understand that Porter was a security risk.

I forgot to add - it's not just a political issue, because somebody like Porter is ripe for being blackmailed.
It just amazes me, but then I come from a military background, and one of my businesses deals with issues that require my employees to go through background checks, etc. etc.

I doubt Trump would think about blackmail. Trump liked him because he got the job done. The people around Trump liked him because things were a bit more “tempered” since Porter came on.
If Trump knew Porter abused his wives, he probably just told him to stop it. In the business world, that stuff doesn’t come to work with you.
More ironic, there is no such thing as “a man hitting a woman” anymore because there is no binary gender.

He probably didn't know, this sounds like Kushner's doing.
And I don't care how good of a businessman somebody is, I would never hire somebody who would abuse their wife, because it speaks volumes about the kind of person they are. Then again, Porter doesn't sound like a good Christian, so not surprised.

Would you fire someone for it?

In a heartbeat.

By the way, in addition to Porter not having a security clearance, I haven't anything saying Kushner has one either - I've seen a bunch of articles stating that he was not given a clearance because of his "issues" with filling out disclosure forms, his financial dealings, etc., but it's hard to separate fact from fiction.
I have seen it acknowledged, I guess because it's subject to FOIA protocols, that he has had to keep revising his disclosure forms, and that alone would probably disqualify him.
