Here is the video--6 minutes long of a 50-70 car pileup on I-35 near Ames, Iowa. First minute is a little slow. At about 4:30 in, it starts getting "wow".

I am the car on the interstate that is at least 500 yards away from any body else. Traction control computer in the Chrysler 300 is awesome!

"....Having spent a lifetime of winters here in Michigan, I'm smart enough to know when to drive 25 or stay off the roads......"Well said. I've spent over 40 years driving in the Upper Midwest ...northern Minnesota and Wisconsin... and sometimes the best decision is to stay home.
If you are already out there in the thick of it, slow down and drive within the limits of visibility and road conditions, realizing that you have to maintain greater separation to maneuver and brake when roads are snow or ice covered.
There is no meeting or party worth putting your life needlessly in danger.

Im old enough to remember when we used SALT on the roads to prevent this crap. But then that was before the Left took over.
I'm old enough to remember when we used studded tires and chains, and went light on the salt, because it eats up roads and rusts out cars. Illinois was wretched on my old cars, and I do NOT miss the salt.

My takeaway from this is that it is just better to banzai into the ditch. Better to get an intact vehicle towed out of the ditch than a smashed vehicle on the freeway.
