Well when its at the expense of some poor schmoe who might not have found anything better to do in a still selective job market I cede the opportunity to jest.
I remember when I had sh*t jobs.
The people making the calls are not the ones making the bucks.
I’ve been hunting and hunting for a job, handicapped by a spotty resume. I I’ve been approached via email by more than one mainline insurance firm to be a salesman. I’ve turned it down as such pitches aren’t my forte. In fact a few pointed questions on my part have gotten them to quit soliciting ME. Things like where is your office and who is your boss. In perfect earnest frankness. My frankness turns off those who are not also prepared to be frank.
If it’s unethical then maybe a kind nudge could still say more than self righteous raillery.
My daughter took a job selling over the phone because she was desperate to pay her rent. She'd been laid off, and was looking hard for a regular job during the day.
She had to finally quit because she couldn't take how aggressive people were. She didn't deserve to be cussed at in the most profane way. All the person had to do was to say "no thank you."
I hate phone solicitors too, especially companies that spoof their number to appear local. The company is the one that you have the beef with.
We have asked MANY times to have our number removed. I won’t curse at them but my cousin and I use those calls as auditions...and sing to them! No, we cannot sing well, so they either hang up or laugh. We do not have call blocking so this seems the best way!
