Because Robert Mueller visited the White House the day before he was appointed Special Counsel. The cover story was that Mueller was interviewing for a position as FBI Director for which he was not eligible. He was given a choice to come back to the White Hat side. The plan was to use the Special Counsel’s office as a sting on the Deep State Lawyers.
President Trump was going to call it a “Witch Hunt” because that is what it was: Hunting the Witch Hillary and her merry coven.

This is what I believe. If one listens carefully this is exactly what President Trump and others in-the-know have been saying all along.
Trump has never once attacked Mueller; just left that for (in-the-dark?) surrogates like Hannity ... causing the idiot Dims to leap to Mueller’s defense like Pavlov dogs.
This is going to be hilarious when they find out what’s really going on and try to reverse the direction of their mob all at once.

There's never been any proof of that and the chances of it being true are next to nothing at this point. Rosenstein wanted Trump to hire Mueller as FBI Director, some claim even going with Mueller to the interview, and when Trump rejected him basically on the spot Rosenstein appointed Mueller as SC the very next day. Trump was outraged, famously saying of Rosenstein on Twitter "I'm being investigated for firing the FBI director, by the same guy that told me to fire the FBI Director!" Those wanting us to believe Trump was and still is lying to us about it aren't true supporters of the President.
