I want nine non-political, impartial judges of facts and of law. That’s the job description.
Depoliticizing the courts is a major requirement for any serious anti-corruption effort.
So do I. But we are wishing for unicorns and ponies to expect this.
I've known quite a few judges; they all have opinions because they are people. We are seriously infected now. I just can't imagine someone rising to the level of judge who really holds no political opinions. Ironically, the best judges, in my opinion, would be the "uneducated masses" who know right from wrong and can read the law and apply it.
Forget it.
The SCOTUS has been political since the beginning.
What is needed is to reduce the jurisdiction of the US District Courts to their own judicial districts. Nationwide actions would require SCOTUS to initiate them.
That’s a valid confusion that’s all my fault as I didn’t make clear that I was not using the terms in the political sense but the intellectual.
Sandra Day and Kennedy are two liberals, intellectually, who come to mind.
