The Flu Is FAR WORSE Than We’re Being Told: Tens Of Thousands Of Americans Are DYING

We all know that this year’s flu season is bad. I have been pouring over numbers and reports over the past few days, and it’s actually even worse than we’re hearing about. Tens of thousands of Americans are dying. It’s now worse than the 2009 swine flu outbreak and is on track with the 2014-15 strain. And it’s not showing any signs of slowing down.

Despite this, the media is downplaying the severity of the flu and the government makes the statistics pretty difficult to find. Are they trying to avoid a panic? Do they know something we don’t?

Here’s what you need to know about why this year’s flu is so dangerous.

This Year’s Flu Strain Is More Deadly

The dominant Influenza strain this year is H3N2. This particular strain has a history of causing more hospitalizations and more deaths. According to the CDC:

In the past, H3N2-predominant seasons have been associated with more severe illness and higher mortality, especially in older people and young children, relative to H1N1- or B-predominant seasons. Between 1976 and 2007, for example, CDC estimates that an average of 28,909 people died from flu during H3N2 seasons, compared to 10,648 people during non-H3N2 predominant years.

That’s a difference of 18,261 adults each year. And that’s in a good year.

In addition to H3N2 producing a more serious infection in general, this year’s particular H3N2 influenza virus is particularly virulent. The number of deaths due to influenza or complications to the flu, such as pneumonia (a secondary bacterial infection following influenza), varies from year to year.

An August 27, 2010 MMWR report entitled “Thompson MG et al. Updated Estimates of Mortality Associated with Seasonal Influenza through the 2006-2007 Influenza Season. MMWR 2010; 59(33): 1057-1062.,” provided estimates of the range of flu-associated deaths

Yep. That is what has been talked about by Inf.Dis. at wife's hospital. She had the shot (mandatory) and got the flu. She rarely misses work, however was about for 3 days and the weekend. She didn't shake it for a couple of weeks. Main hospital has filled up, sending respiratory patients to their secondary hospital in the system.

I have to agree with this possibility. I haven't been touched by the flu for many many years, and I have never gotten a flu shot. People who DO get flu shots and are always stressing about this sort of thing ARE getting sick.

This flu is indeed crazy. All I can do is offer advice; I’m not a doctor. Take Echinacea (immune system booster) right away, if you even are around someone coughing. Use hand sanitizer like you have OCD.

We had BOTH strains PLUS strep at the same time at my house two weeks ago. We got a shot of antibiotics for the strep and took 50K IU of d3 when we got home. We took 10K IU at bedtime and 10K IU again the next morning. Within 36hrs fever and aches were gone. Well, except for where we got the antibiotic shot :P

Remember to add N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) to your home stocks. Requires refrigeration for long term storage. I'm using Jarrow Formulas N-A-C Sustain. This is a sustained release formulation. Jarrow is an Israeli firm. These would be hard for children to swallow, however are good for adults. Smaller capsule NAC formulations would be helpful for children, but would require caution and multiple dosing.

NAC is a life saver especially in preventing an immune Cytokine storm.

A colleague of mine and I have introduced vitamin D at doses that have achieved greater than 100 nmol/L in most of our patients for the past number of years, and we now see very few patients in our clinics with the flu or influenzalike illness. In those patients who do have influenza, we have treated them with the vitamin D hammer, as coined by my colleague. This is a 1-time 50 000 IU dose of vitamin D3 or 10 000 IU 3 times daily for 2 to 3 days. The results are dramatic, with complete resolution of symptoms in 48 to 72 hours. One-time doses of vitamin D at this level have been used safely and have never been shown to be toxic.8 We urgently need a study of this intervention. The cost of vitamin D is about a penny for 1000 IU, so this treatment costs less than a dollar.

These are actual hospitalizations. What part of filled beds from influenza at a primary hospital do you not understand?

Usually. Not this year. My sister in law had it for about three months despite heavy meds. She’s an athlete who really takes care of herself. Brother for a couple days. Father for three days and he NEVER gets sick. Mother for about a week. Me for about a day, but twice. (I almost never get sick, too, and have an overactive immune system.) Friends of my parents have died from this bug. This isn’t hype. It’s a bad bug.

Dunno if it’s accurate, but I’ve heard this season is worse because the media hyped the “only 10%” effectiveness of the vaccine so much (based on the flu season in Australia) that more people than usual decided to skip it here in the U.S.

Lately I’ve been seeing estimates that the vaccine is 30-40% effective.
