Justice Department withholds majority of FBI texts
Washington Examiner ^ | 1/27/17 | Byron York

Posted on 01/27/2018 5:27:21 PM PST by Stingray51

The Justice Department has given Congress less than 15 percent of the texts between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page... How many texts have been turned over? Both Justice Department and Capitol Hill sources say the total number is in the 7,000 range, which includes all the texts handed over on two separate occasions.

How many texts will be turned over? First, it's not possible to know how many texts from the Dec. 14, 2016 to May 17, 2017 time period will be recovered and turned over. But of the 50,000 the Justice Department already has in hand, officials say they have already turned over all they're going to give to Congress.

That means Justice has decided to allow Congress to see just 7,000 of a total of 50,000 Strzok-Page texts – slightly less than 15 percent of the total number of texts the Justice Department has now. Why is that? Justice Department officials point to a Jan. 19 letter from Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd to Capitol Hill investigators explaining which texts would and would not be turned over.

"The department is not providing text messages that were purely personal in nature," Boyd wrote. "Furthermore, the department has redacted from some work-related text messages portions that were purely personal. ....

Boyd said that "in a few instances," the Justice Department consulted with the office of Trump-Russia special prosecutor Robert Mueller and made some redactions "related to the structure, operation, and substance of the [Special Counsel's Office]'s investigation because it is ongoing." Hill investigators don't really know what that covers. (The letter said if Congress has questions about redactions in a particular text, the department would "work with" Congress to further describe or reveal redacted information "in a closed setting.") ....

What Would Hillary Do?

Strozk and Page exchanged 54,000 messages about yoga, golf, upcoming weddings, and family. So none of this is any of our business, just like with Hillary’s emails. Listen to your social betters, they know better.

What makes them think Trump doesn’t have the information in his hands already? There is a counter operation going on. Trump and his own team of counter operatives already received their copies before Muller received his. Trump is no dumb.

He is way ahead of the oppositions. Why did you think Trump challenged Muller under oath?

Just think..

It's government property. There is no right to personal privacy.

Boyd is taking orders from acting AG Rosenstein and he's stonewalling whilst Jeff Session remains criminally asleep at the wheel.

Just like the Hillary emails were all about yoga and grandchildren. Total BS. If they are innocuous, then let Congress see them.

Actually, the evidence must be kept for the endless numbers of coming trials. The swamp doesn’t want to be drained and is working against the drainer as hard as it can. That includes forcing him to blow his case Meanwhile the sanctimonious know it all help by assisting the drainage resisters

What utter nonsense.

“The department is not providing text messages that were purely personal in nature,”

How can it be personal if it was on taxpayer-funded phones? Funny the DOJ doesn't feel the same way about personal conversations when they actually try to prosecute little people for alleged crimes.

The two-faced FBI :

Trump’s alleged Moscow hotel bed antics - not personal, spread allegations far and wide.

Strzok & Lisa Page’s bedroom talk - personal, keep absolutely confidential.

It will eventually be exposed. Just watch and see. Do we all think that President Trump risk all he had just to be elected President to just sit back and have the Deep State run him off?

Trump has to be one step ahead of opposition. Remember we don’t know the chess match that it going behind the curtains.

Drip drip from all the sources defending Trump because they have to counter the opposition.

Will see in the near future of what is coming down the drain.

Congress has oversight over the DOJ and FBI. Not the other way around.

And yet the tail is wagging the dog here.

Congress needs to do their jobs and force the release of those texts messages.

How do they do that? I don't know. Someone else more informed may know how.

But their oversight means nothing if they can't enforce their requests for information from these agencies.
