White House proposes path to citizenship for 1.8 million people

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump is proposing giving 1.8 million young undocumented immigrants a pathway to citizenship in exchange for $25 billion for his long-promised wall and a host of other strict immigration cuts, according to a framework proposed Thursday. The outlines of the deal were described by a White House official for staff on Capitol Hill that CNN was given access to on Thursday afternoon. In what the White House official called a "dramatic concession," Trump would accept a path to citizenship for not just those originally eligible for DACA but for a broader population, adding up to 1.8 million people, the official said.

We will get the Wall with or without DACA. But they will only get DACA with the Wall.

Any mythical Great Wall will not be even close to being finished before Trump leaves office, and the next administration will easily shut it down or keep it form being started or finished.

But 1.8 million new Democrat voters? Yeah, that's going to stick with us for many years to come.

The Wall will be finished by 2019 - 2020 timeframe. It’s not like it’s a skyscraper, it’s a Wall.

Imagine if Trump initiates a Go Fund Me page for the Wall and it’s tax deductible for the safety of our country. Write it into the tax law.

Can you imagine? The go fund me page will crash, so it better be a robust website.

Trump needs to let us know the completion of the Wall year, so we can market it. Such as Wall2020 or Wall2019

Freepers, I have been a lurker for many years finding out the real news from the posts and your comments. For those of you that are so against allowing citizenship, please put yourselves in the shoes of these young people. I now live in my home state of WI, but was a teacher-librarian in a WA district with students whose parents worked the vineyards and orchards. Please consider why they took the risk to be here.

I could almost stomach it, especially being a Christian, if the Democrats didn't do such a damn good job of turning these people into future Democrats. The Democrats don't do this out of any kind of compassion, they do this because it adds to their numbers.

23 months to 35 months? You don't know how government contractors work, do you? Come down to Texas and I will show you highways that have been under construction for decades, that seem to be in a continuous state of repair and rebuilding. And I'm not talking about a highway crossing the state, I'm talking about a little chunk of highway between Waco and Dallas.

And any wall is easy for a future Democrat to have removed. Removing citizenship from 1.8 million future Democratic voters is not so easy.

Appreciate the insight on the construction issues. Trump needs to get ahead of this. Trump needs to cut the red tape as it relates to the construction of the wall.

Dems only leverage over the wall if funding. If Trump gets outside funding, then the Wall will be built with both government (i.e.: We the Peoples Tax Paying Funding) and outside private funding with tax breaks for those that voluntarily choose to fund the wall.

I wish there some way to hold Mexico responsible. They need to educate their population like we do. Literacy is one of America’s special gifts. Sounds simplistic, but I taught kids whose parents could not read Spanish much less English in WA state. The orchards and vineyards provided many jobs and rural schools have been built for them. Language is such an issue that they never really get to history and why America really works.
