Hawaii Gov. David Ige explained Monday that not knowing his own Twitter password contributed to the delay notifying the people of Hawaii that the ballistic missile alert they received on Jan. 13 was a false alarm.
Ige told reporters Monday part of the 38-minute delay was due to the fact that he did not know his Twitter password, the Honolulu Star Advertiser reported.
On Jan. 13, Hawaiians received an alert on their phone and televisions warning of an inbound ballistic missile. Thirty-eight minutes later, it was revealed to be a false alarm, which Ige has previously said was sent because someone pushed the wrong button and that the mistake occurred during an employee shift change.
Hawaii Emergency Management Agency administrator Vern Miyagi claimed responsibility for erroneously sending out the alert and called for reforms such as designating one person to send out alerts and equipment changes. He also acknowledged the importance of a full investigation.
Ige expressed similar sentiments concerning an investigation.
"While I am thankful this mornings alert was a false alarm, the public must have confidence in our emergency alert system. I am working to get to the bottom of this so we can prevent an error of this type in the future," Ige said in a statement.
It didn’t occur to him to phone the local TV stations to tell them that it was a false alarm?
Oh Plz...Hawaii? Huh? This is the best you got..??
Makes sense, wasn’t obama their best?
Just another empty-suit-lifer-politician showing his only value is as a hood ornament.
THAT IS WHY PEOPLE VOTED FOR TRUMP.
They give California some serious competition when it comes to electing idiots.
Had his “Anus hat” pulled on to tight and didn’t get the word.
But of course, it’s Trump’s fault.
“I have a nagging suspicion that there is a lot more to the missile alert than a simple mistake.”
Bill and Hillary and Huma and Barack were all in Honolulu with both Hawaii senators at the time, yet MSM has yet to mention that. You’d think the media would have been all over that- did Secret Service rush you to a safe place? Were you alarmed? What were your first thoughts on hearing of the alert?

They have an ALL CLEAR alert for tsunamis, but not for air raids?
The governor did not remember his Twitter login, and the aide who actually posts the stuff was not available? “I forgot my password” took a half hour?
It makes him look like a freak.
(on second thought, he's probably smoking it)
“pushing his big button and thereby start a nuclear war so he could then be impeached. “
If he had opened the envelopes and distributed the codes, the generals in charge would say WTF? Nothing on radar, no BSTS flags, nothing except this? THAT may have been the plan, because in the absence of ANY corroboration they would not act. Normally there would be confirmed detection and this info gets passed to POTUS, not a tweet or news item.
So if Trump had acted, with no actual attack, this would be stopped and then they could say he’s nuts.
Instead, he got the news along with the fact that there is no attack and he decided to let hawaii handle it.
I am not defending this obvious buffoon, but those are ilima (the orange) and maile (the green) leis. Those are not tourist leis. Ilima leis, and maile leis to a lesser extent, are generally reserved for special/fancy events.
Having said that, it makes it worse to see him wearing such leis after this fustercluck. To me, who was born and raised in Hawaii, it shows a lack of humility. Like he's adorning himself after forgetting his Twitter password that left people there thinking they were about to die---What?!
Sorry,I thought the lady in the red sweater was taking a picture.
It was a bit of humor that fell flat on it’s face.
.
I counted up last year. I have now over forty platforms that require a password to enter, and it’s gotten to the point where I have to have a notebook where I keep the app names and passwords written down. I think in this guy’s case....he’s probably got at least that many, if not double.
Thanks for the info from a native Hawaiian. Kind of like the city folk who come to my area and dress in cowboy hat and boots who try to integrate with locals while proposing outrageous water rights deals.
You’re welcome, and yes, when you know the customs of an area, you know when someone is doing it wrong LOL.
This political vegetable could have called Trump who does know his twitter password and Trump would have it sent out for him so he could go back to sleep.
And, as governor of Hawaii he couldn’t call the local news agencies, and the phone companies, and have them all broadcast/send the message that this was false?
