This is mostly rural PA (Flight 93 crashed here on 9/11). There southeast area is as red as it gets (Obama said "they cling to there guns or religion" here) but the district snakes a hundred miles to the northwest to grab a chunk of Pittsburgh to still keep it Dem. It's a ridiculous district.
With the Dems concentrating themselves into small blue urban enclaves surrounded by an ocean of red, creating compact non-gerrymandered districts might not be a bad thing.
Look closer. This is a Republican district and has been ever esince it was created in 2011.
That’s the new district. Keith Rothfus won that District as a Republican in 2012. However, under the old lines, the Democrat barely held on in 2010. Western Pennsylvania has flipped pretty solidly red, so I think Rothfus would win handedly even under the old lines. The Twitter fools are counting places like this as easy pickups if the districts are redrawn, but they are too stupid to realize how badly the Western Part of the State has flipped against them.
