Jon Bramnick: New Jersey Republicans Are ‘Kinder’ Than Trump

With former Gov. Chris Christie gone and Republicans holding slimmer minorities in the state legislature, Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnick tried Thursday to rebrand the New Jersey GOP.

“We’re the Republican Party, but we’re not crazy,” Bramnick said. “We are not crazy or extreme. We’re reasonable.”

Bramnick (R-Union) was at times more critical of his own party’s president than the newly sworn-in Democratic governor during a news conference inside the state house with other Assembly Republican leaders. He went out of his way to denounce Trump’s tweets and divisive rhetoric but passed on opportunities to attack Gov. Phil Murphy or his $175,000 public salary.

To these morons, they think they are kinder than Trump, because they let taxes rise, let Dems red tape businesses and let aliens in. They aren’t kinder, just more stupid than the swamp.

Christie was vilified by the teachers’ unions (for which the Democratic Party is the de facto political arm) because by capping property tax increases at 2% he ensured that when teachers got 3% raises, there were less teachers the next year. Certainly happened in my town; Trenton is broke, and there was no “emergency funding” available.

Despite Christie’s efforts to improve things, it is impossible to hide the fact that “homeowners” in NJ are just tenants of the teachers’ unions.

NJ is heading in the same direction as CA, but more recently - primarily because with each passing MINUTE there are less American “makers” left here. With so many good jobs lost, it is just impossible to get ahead here; we are ruled by a government worker caste that is impoverishing us.

I haven’t heard it put that way. That is quite accurate.

People don’t realize, especially NJ residents, that the teachers have lost their ability to get sympathy. Now, all I feel for the teacher juggernaut is contempt. I wish voters would become more aware of just how much POLITICS affects them. And I hope the good teachers come to their senses some day. Funny thing, we had such hopes in Christie, and the disappointment was major.

I believe Christie was the best we could hope for here in NJ; you’ll see how quickly he is missed by anyone pulling the wagon rather than riding on it for free. The teachers lost the public relations battle when Christie was first running; the Asbury Park Press released the salaries of ALL public school teachers in NJ (as public information), and Christie went on to win twice.
