Thank you. I agree of course. It is a state problem. But the Republicans are shooting the hostage in order to solve the crime. If you are a Conservative in New York, California, New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, or other places, you got stabbed in the neck by the Tax Law.
Let's not minimize that. It is what it is.
I just have no patience now for people clutching their pearls about us losing the House this fall. WE TOLD THEM not to pass this crappy tax bill!!!! They did it anyway.
I agree. The aim of the tax bill should have been to reduce taxes for everyone, without victimizing citizens because of where they live. That said, all the states you listed have significant fiscal issues, and are therefore potentially open for candidates who have workable solutions. Many in Connecticut are very unhappy with Malloy and his penchant for losing corporations and replacing the revenue lost with higher taxes. Illinois is in big trouble, and people there are also tired of increasing taxes. California is so conflicted they are talking about splitting apart.
New York and New Jersey are also hurting - although if brain eating aliens ran as democrats in NYC they'd win. Anyway, all is not lost, and good things are happening. Hopefully we'll see some sincerity and savvy from those Republicans running in 2018.
